My Sunday Photo

Having a try at hammering stones to find hidden gems. A great activity at Cardiff’s Out of the Woods festival.

  1. She can’t do that. All the slate industry is in the North isn’t it? You’d have to move and live in Blaenau Ffestiniog which is the grimmest place I know. Still, you’re not too far away from a cuppa tea then.
xxx Huge Hugs to you all xxx

      Hi David.
We like to hold on to our traditions, down here, especially when it concerns 19th century child-labour. It was a case of either Olivia cutting slate, or “workin’ down a mine, like”!
      Take care, you.

  2. Ooh that looks very outdoorsey!!! What was being made?

We went to an out of the woods festival where there was lots of interactive activities based around nature for children. A geological group were there showing children how they find special rocks around Wales. The children were then able to have a go on slate and boulders. My daughter found some pieces with lovely coloured bits inside.
